John Kielty

John Kielty is an actor, writer, composer and musician.

Theatre credits include: Roman Bridge, Mary Queen of Scots Got Her Head Chopped Off and To Begin... (NTS); The Cherry Orchard, The Caucasian Chalk Circle, The Venetian Twins and Confessions of a Justified Sinner (Royal Lyceum); Doctor Faustus and A Christmas Carol (Citizens); Whatever Gets You Through the Night (Arches); The Bible (abridged) (Reduced Shakespeare); The Cone Gatherers (His Majesty’s, Aberdeen); The Bedroom (Cumbernauld Theatre) and A Terrible Beauty, Sunset Boulevard and The Real Mrs Sinatra (Òran Mór).

Television and film credits include: One Life Stand, River City and Outlander.

John is one of the Kielty Brothers who wrote the opening number for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games. They contributed songs to Glasgow Girls (NTS) and wrote the musicals Active Virgin, Confessions of a Justified Songwriter and the award-winning Wasted Love for the RCS. They wrote The Sundowe (winner of the Highland Quest for a New Musical), The 27 Club and Mercy Madonna of Malawi (World Stage Productions); The Murder of Geoffrey Robbins (Òran Mór) and The Onion of Bigotry: a History of Hatred (Black Dingo).
